The First Day - The Meeting

Early in the morning, all of the material needed for the first day of the event was already prepared. Earlier than the scheduled time, I arrived in the venue, Saint Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS), to set up the area and hanged our tarpaulin at the school entrance gate.

The first guest who arrived and registered was Rafi Tampus from Dapitan, Cordova, Cebu, then followed by Irene Tampus from Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City and then by Mervin Tampus from Sangi, Lapu-Lapu City. That was the first acquaintance of the three guest and my first acquaintance with Rafi. I met already Irene several times and Mervin once.

A lot of members confirmed to come but only their text message and FB post arrived. Its not unusual anymore to me since I been used to experience that kind of situation many times. At my early twenties, I was working on building peoples organization after my college days because I also finished a short course of Community Organizing and Community Development (COCD) where I gained a Diploma from the Philippine Social Institute. For several years, I was working as a volunteer organizer for peoples organization during the Presidency of Corazon Aquino until the time I got a job. Self-control, Patience and being Open-minded is the attitude you should possess because many times people just simply ignore you. 

The whole morning had passed but only four of us talking at the big venue I rented out for that purpose. Lunch time arrived, so we go the nearest Carendria and share our lunch. The scheduled presentation time had come. Another two members arrived. It didn't stop me to proceed the presentation even few were there to listen. To be a leader, you should be emotionally strong and never be affected by all negative situation around.

By the grace of our Lord, the presentation was delivered successfully. After some discussion, we came up to an idea and agreed that if we cant bring the members to the meeting place, so we will bring the meetings to the members place. One meeting every Sunday will be scheduled in different location just to reach out the members. 

The first day event had finished, and after packing up everything, we proceed to the nearest Joliibee Outlet for our late noon merienda. Afterward, our group proceed to the nearest Cebuana Lhuillier to claimed the cash donation of Gaw Girlie Mae Tampus straight from Saudi Arabia... 3,005 pesos was the confirmed amount.

The Second Day - The Beach

I needed to wake up early on Sunday of April 29, 2012 for marketing of our foodstuff of the day for our Grand Reunion 2012 that was held at Marigondon Beach, Lapu-Lapu City.

Together with Rafi Tampus from Cordova, Cebu who help me for everything (marketing at Lapu-Lapu City wet market, preparing the foods at my house and cooking the foods at the beach with the help of other clan members) and as well as did some shopping at the mall for the other needs of the event. I’m so thankful to Rafi for his support.

The day was filled with joy talking and getting to know with each other. We have enough food to share from the sales of the Tampus Clan Shirt Souvenir share, Gaw Girlie Mae Tampus contribution and something from my pocket. Gaw Christine brought her special pancit canton with some junk foods, Gaw Irene brough some fruits to share… Norman and AK brought their sound system that filled the air with good music.

What a beautiful day to reminisce… the smile and laughter made the day so wonderful. Everyone was so happy and enjoyed the swimming on the beach. Other hired a boat for a short sail along Marigondon beach front.

Indeed, the event was so successful.
